A programming language is output only when it has output and not input in its programming model.

Formally, these languages have many nice properties that make them easy to analyze. Given that L is the formal language itself as a set of strings and S is the intended output domain, an output-only programming language is merely a function LS.

Note that the function LS may be uncomputable. Additionally, membership in L may be Turing-complete.
