Talk:Kava
octuple redirect.
Yeah, I came here from (12*4)/5, and it felt like a long journey.
I got here from Code-Tree, and that was a DECUPLE REDIRECT. Hammy! (This message was posted at 17:52 on Wednesday 24 December 2025)
I think this abuses redirects, we should tell the admin. --None1 (Nope.) 05:05, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
Respectfully, why does this need 12 redirects chained one after another? MediaWiki doesn't even traverse them automatically, so the redirecting is painful. Why not just make each one of the 11 redirect pages redirect to here instead of being in a chain? Hello, I'm RaiseAfloppaFan4925. Let's talk.【You're かっこいい、remember that】 05:20, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
- User:Ractangle from what I could tell couldn't settle on a name for the language twelve entire times and the old redirects were left unmaintained —aadenboy (talk|contribs) 05:33, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
- wtf you got correct :wtf:User:Gaham (Discord:glebovsky_)
- Oh yeah I kinda forgot that sorry. So do we just edit the redirects to point to Kava directly now? Hello, I'm RaiseAfloppaFan4925. Let's talk.【You're かっこいい、remember that】 05:47, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
- it would make sense for now, but I'm more worried that all the redirects to this page would give it alternatives names it otherwise doesn't have (also limiting what potential titles are "available" on this wiki for anyone unaware) —aadenboy (talk|contribs) 05:50, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
- Good point, it would probably cause confusion. The current name has stabilized on Kava, but some people only know about Code-Tree and others (12*4)/5. And also the name thing, didn't really consider that. Hello, I'm RaiseAfloppaFan4925. Let's talk.【You're かっこいい、remember that】 05:58, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

Two things. First, feel free to fix double redirects. The only reason that they're not fixed automatically is that Mediawiki was designed to handle English Wikipedia's scale, and English Wikipedia's policy is effectively to encourage redirects as a way of preventing bluelink breakage and database load; see wikipedia:WP:NOTBROKEN for their reasoning. We'd have to deploy some sort of bot to automatically fix them.
Second, I'd encourage folks to take a lesson from this: consider designing the language and picking an appropriate name based on the design and its cultural context. As is, this page barely describes a language and it doesn't seem like it comes with an interpreter or a purpose. Corbin (talk) 06:32, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
