Attempted name change

Attempting to change your username via renaming your userpage doesn't actually work. It's probably simplest to create a new account. (It's also technically possible to change your username on the server back end, but I'm not sure what our policies for that are.) --ais523 23:37, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

FWIW, my (unilateral) policy on this has been to allow subjectively reasonable username changes given proof of account control, e.g., by requesting it via the wiki's email feature. So far I've done one of these, though we already had Extension:Renameuser installed, so maybe there have been others. Please let me know if we should have a (documented?) policy on this.
