Re: (User talk:ais523) Program too long to add into page

Before adding a program that long to a page, it's worth thinking about alternatives; the page is pretty long as it is, and it'd be a very large block of text to scroll past.

Maybe it would make sense to add a version that was compressed in some way? (Even using a format like prefixing each line with a number of repeats would help.) That would probably be more useful for people who are reading the hello world page to look for interesting new languages than the whole uncompressed program.

Another possibility is to host the program on another site (e.g. Github or Pastebin) and link to it, although that's probably less of a good solution.

17 kilobytes of a page that's already around 200 probably isn't that excessive, though, so if you / anyone listening in on this conversation decides there's no better option, I can try to add it. --ais523 02:11, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

I just noticed that the program is already on the Godencode page. It'd probably make the most sense to just link to it there, something like "The Hello world program in Godencode is around 17 kilobytes long, and is available here."

Sounds good. I'll link it to the page. -Plasmath (talk) 02:41, 13 June 2021 (UTC) Or not. It's still preventing me from editing the page (for some reason). -Plasmath (talk) 02:46, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
