f(x)
f(x) is an esolang invented by User:None1 that uses polynomials.
Data storage
The only data storage is a polynomial named f. It can only use one variable named x.
Commands
Assignment command:
f=<expression>
Printing command:
print(<expression>)
There's no strict formatting requirement on how to print polynomials. It's okay to print it in any format as long as its value can be read.
Conditional:
<expression> ==/!= <expression> -> <number>
If the two expressions are equal/unequal, jump to the line <number> (0-indexed).
Operators
The available arithmetic operators are: +,-,*,/(floor division),%(modulo),**(power, second operand must be number).
The calling operator:
expression1(expression2)
Will replace x with expression2 in expression1 and return it.
For example:
(x+1)(x**2)
Will return the polynomial x**2+1.
Computational class
Turing-complete, because it can be translated from a 2-register Minsky machine.
We can use x**(2*a+1)+x**(2*b) to represent the values of the two accumulators. Then, the value of the first accumulator can be extracted with (f(x)-f(-x))/2 while the value of the second one can be extracted with (f(x)+f(-x))/2. Thus, the commands in Minsky machine are trivial.
