GolferNightmare is an esoteric programming language by User:Dragoneater67. As its name implies, it was meant to make code golfing difficult.
Overview
The program has access to a tape of unbounded nonnegative integer cells initialized to all 0s. The tape infinitely expands to the right direction. There is also a tape pointer that initially starts on the first cell and a 1-bit IO register initially set to 0. Instructions are executed left-to-right in an implicit infinite loop.
| Instruction | Description |
|---|---|
> |
Move tape pointer right, then increment current cell. |
< |
Increment current cell, then set tape pointer to 0. |
/ |
Increment current cell, if current cell is not equal to next cell, skip to after the next occurrence of /.
|
~ |
Toggle IO register. |
. |
If IO register is 1, input an ASCII character, then add its ASCII code to the current cell, else, output current cell's value mod 256 as an ASCII character. |
| Anything else | Do nothing. |
