Troupe is an esoteric programming language designed by Chris Pressey on June 25, 2012, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The name of the language varies by region; it is Troupe in the UK, Canada, and Australia, and Trope in the USA. (By what name it is known in other regions of the world is not specified.)

It is based on the behaviour (in the USA: behavior) of a troupe of hedgehogs as they traverse a territory in which are placed faery rings and hills.

Computational Class

The specification argues that Troupe is Turing-complete by showing that the various parts of a Troupe system map quite directly to the parts of a Turing machine.
