- It is more important that people know where links are going – in particular, a User: page isn't held to the same standards as a mainspace article. You can see Esolang:Authors and Esolang talk:Authors for a discussion about this that was held early in the history of the wiki, and has been enforced as policy for almost 19 years now. --ais523 14:51, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
However, some user pages aren't about the user, but instead they're about a programming language or a concept, as in User:Language. Codd (talk) 02:23, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
