Article likely to have been plagiarised from Wikipedia
The Markov algorithm article on esolangs.org was created 5 Jun 2020. Entire substantial paragraphs in the "Description" and "Examples" sections match entire substantial paragraphs of the Wikipedia article for algorithm on 16 May 2020 and it would be reasonable to conclude they were lifted directly from Wikipedia, whose content is not in the public domain. --Chris Pressey (talk) 12:13, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- I agree, and have deleted it – even the external links section was largely plagiarised. In general the only thing that needs to be checked for in this situation is whether or not someone has submitted the same page (that they own the copyright for) to both Wikipedia and Esolang – if the pages appear to have different authors, the one on Esolang has to be deleted (until someone rewrites the page from scratch, without using Wikipedia as a reference). --ais523 16:34, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
Describing something different
This seems like it's describing something different from the previous content of the page (e.g. see how this page is referenced in Thue and Binary to unary conversion), should this be moved to a separate page? --PkmnQ (talk) 14:35, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, this page is about what WP calls the wikipedia:Markov property as well as wikipedia:Markov chain. I approve of any renames -- I'm just here to write original public-domain text. In any case, I'll go edit those pages so that they directly link to wikipedia:Markov algorithm. Corbin (talk) 23:32, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
