Balik (from /balɯk/ which means "fish" in Turkic languages) is a two-dimensional esolang by User:ChuckEsoteric08.

Description

It has a right-infinite tape which stores a single ternary digit (trit), thus having possible values of 0, 1 and 2. It has following commands:

  • + increments current cell, wrapping to 0 if it was 2
  • > moves tape pointer right
  • < moves tape pointer left
  • * turns instruction pointer 90 degrees clockwise
  • @ - reverses direction of the instruction pointer if cell is 0
  • . outputs current cell
  • , inputs a ternary digit and add it to the current cell

When instruction pointer is out of bounds program stops.

Computational class

The language is Turing-complete as it can implement ternary Reversible Brainfuck fairly easily:

  • +, > and < remain unchanged
  • - becomes ++
  • Loop abc[def]ghi becomes:
abc**def**ghi
   @@   @@
  *       *
  ***   ***

Each nested loop would have three lines consisting of spaces repeated times equal to the current depth value between first and second lines.
