A pair of independently chosen arbitrary 3-bit numbers is total $2^{3+3}$ states which is strictly greater than $2^{4}$ states, so any method you use to turn those two into one 4-bit number, would be not invertible. arseniiv (talk) 18:26, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
